San Antonio Theatres:
Now & Then
Past & Present

Thanks to Jim Miller, we have photographs from the closing night at San Pedro Outdoor Theatre.

Here are some pictures of the San Pedro on closing night, August 15, 1984.  It was a very sad night for me.  I worked the San Pedro more than any other San Antonio theatre.  I wish I had taken more pictures of it during the years I was there.  That movie that was threaded up was “Ghostbusters”  It had been playing since April!

Here’s a picture of the San Pedro’s marquee the day after we closed.  That 6 screen theatre was to become the Embassy 14!

San Pedro Outdoor was built in 1948 by Louis and John Santikos. The name was changed in 1970 to San Pedro Twin. and it became San Pedro Outdoor (with three screens) in 1973. The theatre was razed in September, 1984 to make way for Santikos multi-screen indoor theatre, the Embassy Theatre.
